Laura Luciani is a PhD fellow at the Centre for EU Studies (Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Ghent University). During her studies in Slavic Languages and Literatures (2010-2013) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, she was an exchange student at Lomonosov Moscow State University. She graduated in 2015 with a Master’s degree in Multilingual Communication for International Relations and in 2016 with an additional Master’s degree in Political Science, both from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Laura’s research interests range from human rights and civil society in the post-Soviet space to internal displacement and frozen conflicts in the South Caucasus. As of March 2018, she is working on a PhD project on the influence of NGOs on the EU's human rights promotion towards the post-Soviet space. Laura is also a permanent editor with East Journal, an Italian online newspaper where she mainly writes about Russia, the South Caucasus and the Baltics.
